AUDITS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUSINESS (ROYAL DECREE 56/2016)

Who must comply?

Large companies with the following criteria and corporate groups defined according to  Art. 42 of the Commercial Code.

  • More than 250 employees on its payroll.
  • Turnover exceeding 50 million euros. (Gross income per activity).

Requirements

Option 1: Audit report of the company’s energy efficiency.

  • Audit according to UNE-EN 16,247.
  • It must reach at least 85% of energy consumption of the company.

Option 2:Implement a system of energy management (ISO 50,001 or similar).

 

Deadline for submission

The audit must be performed within 9 months after the publication of Royal Decree 56/2016.

Scope of the audit

Companies formed by a single building or group of buildings with centralized power supplies:

  • Hospital complexes, campuses with multiple industrial buildings, etc.
  • The audit will cover the equipment and facilities of the company representative.
  • An audit report for the issues of the survecomplex

Companies formed by multiple centers or buildings delocalized with independent power supplies:

  • Different revision levels will be established for each type of building, depending on the relevance of their energy consumption.
  • In commercial buildings, energy label (CE3) is supported as accepted documentation of an energy review.

Building energy audits of Buildings

Large companies consisting of multiple establishments require an energy review of the buildings.

Job Performance:

  1. Gathering information prior to visits.
    • Consumption of each building: electricity, gas, oil, etc.
    • Production data: timetables, people.
    • Basic information about each building: surfaces, facilities.
  2. Business Plan buildings:
    • Energy inventory: lighting, climate, equipment.
    • Energy questionnaire.
    • Detection enhancements.
  3. Energy center reports are issued:
    • Energy Building performance.
    • Performance facilities.
    • Measures that combine low investment with large savings.
