Performance of Hermeticity Tests of Encapsulated Radioactive Sources

SCI has a Second Category Radioactive Facility authorized by the Nuclear Safety Council(CSN) for the performance of Hermeticity Tests of Encapsulated Radioactive Sources.

Testing of encapsulated radioactive sources for leak tightness.

One of the activities performed by SCI ‘s radioactive facility is as follows:

    • Carrying out hermeticity tests of encapsulated radioactive sources, at periodic intervals, in order to detect a possible loss of hermeticity of the same.

The main purpose of the Hermeticity Tests performed at periodic intervals, in accordance with the regulatory specifications, on encapsulated radioactive sources, is to prevent the possible risks of contamination, external or internal, that could result from a loss of hermeticity of the same.
