SCI ‘s UTPR performs another activity, beyond those already seen in the X-Ray Facility Services, which is the radiological verification of equipment for obtaining type approval as radioactive apparatus.
As set forth in “The Regulation on Nuclear and Radioactive Installations” (R.D. 1836/1999 and its modification R.D. 35/2008), to approve the type of a radioactive device that incorporates radioactive substances or generates ionizing radiation, with a view to its exemption as a radioactive facility, one of the following conditions to be fulfilled is to provide, in the request for type approval, accrediting documentation showing the results obtained in the tests verified with the prototype, with respect to the radiation protection conditions.
